Rejohna Gibson Carter, 82, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, in Melbourne, Florida.
Born on April 1, 1943, in Dunbar, West Virginia, Rejohna was a proud graduate of Dunbar High School and later earned her bachelor's degree in criminology from Rollins College. She dedicated her life to her family as a devoted stay-at-home mother and was deeply rooted in her faith as a member of Palmdale Presbyterian Church.
Rejohna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Carter; her son, Shawn Carter; and her brother, Hank Gibson. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Pat Carter and his wife Yvonne; Kelli Carter Maynor and her husband Lee; and daughter-in-law Laura Carter.
Her sister Jill Canter also survives her.
She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandchildren: Brian Carter, Amber Carter, Jacob Carter, Joshua Carter, Caitlin Carter, lan Carter, Jonathan Maynor, and Megan Cochran. Rejohna was also blessed with two great-grandchildren.
Known far her warmth and kindness, Rejohna brought joy to those around her. She found happiness in Jazzercise classes, sewing projects that reflected her creativity, and tending to a beautifully maintained yard that showcased her love for nature. Her gentle spirit touched many lives as a caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. May the memory of Rejohna Gibson Carter bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
