Rella Oxley Obituary

Rella Oxley passed away in December 2022 after a prolonged battle
with declining health and Alzheimer's in San Marcos, Texas. Rella
was born and raised on a farm near Carnegie, Oklahoma.
Rella spent most of her life married to Bart Oxley, another native
Oklahoman. They were married for over 60 years until Bart passed
away. They lived in Borger, Texas; Pasadena, Texas; Toledo, Ohio;
and Horseshoe Bay, Texas during their time together.
Rella received her Teaching and Counseling Degrees and taught in
the Borger, Texas and Toledo, Ohio school systems, and counseled
students in the Fritch, TX school system during her career. She also
excelled in artistic painting. Dedicated to her career, she was
associated with the Amarillo Fine Arts Association, Delta Kappa
Gamma, and High Plains Counseling Association. Rella was a
licensed professional counselor, and her art works were displayed in
a Santa Fe art gallery.
A longtime member of the Church of Christ, Rella was a loving wife,
mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She is
preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, a brother, and two
sisters. Rella is survived by her three sons, one daughter-in-law,
three granddaughters, and four great grandchildren. Rella will be
lovingly remembered by all her relatives and friends.
Rella and Bart will be interred in the Carnegie, Oklahoma Cemetery,
beside her parents during a future private graveside Memorial

Mrs. Oxley helped me through a very hard time in my life! She truly was a blessing in my life! If it wasn´t for her and some others in my life I would not have received a college degree! I am sorry this is so late but, I just heard about her passing.

Mrs Oxley was my guidance counselor at Lake High School in the mid 70s. I am forever grateful for her! She changed the trajectory of my life and that of my children and grandchildren by breathing hope into me. She encouraged me to not worry about financing college. She was the first to ever talk to me about going to college. I was the first person in my mom´s and my dad´s family to ever go to college. My mom had 7 siblings and my dad had 8 siblings. None of my cousins ever went to college. Because Mrs Oxley took time with me and gave me ample encouragement that changed everything! I didn´t know her first name and I just was told her name by another person she invited. He retired CEO of a financial institution-very successful. He attributes Mrs Oxley as the difference maker. I am sad I am too late to tell her what a difference she made. I hope her family sees this and is encouraged by what a wonderful professional and person she was. I know I will see her again...until then...enjoy all the goodness of God!!. Christie McPherson

I loved Mrs. Oxley. She was a role model for me when I was in Hs in Fritch. She was a good friend to me and was so much fun to talk to. She will be missed. She was an awesome woman. RIP Rella
