Remo M. Alonge

'A smile starts on the lips, a grin spreads to the eyes, a chuckle comes from the belly; but a good laugh bursts forth from the soul, overflows, and bubbles all around' said Carolyn Birmingham. These words couldn't more accurately describe Remo Alonge. He had the ability to make people laugh and because of his smile he made the world a more beautiful place. His mother, Maria said Remo was the 'love of her life' and he made her so very proud. Dad recalls how he loved Remo's inquisitiveness and eagerness to create and was always just a phone call away when Remo sought his advice about something that intrigued or challenged him. Remo Mario Alonge was born April 26, 1993 in Newton. His parents, Maria (Zullo) and Raimondo Alonge, immigrants from Italy and settled in Waltham welcomed and showered their new born son with all the love they knew possible. The unimaginable day for any parent came to them on Friday, August 3, 2018 when Remo died unexpectedly at home in Waltham. He was 25. Remo went to heaven knowing the love of his family and was greeted by God…and his grandparents, Michael Zullo and Giuseppe and Carmela (Buscemi) Alonge who all now keep him in their warm embrace. Remo's brother Lorenzo loved the fact they worked together daily at his shop, Eastside Motoring on Main Street in Waltham. Remo brought great skill to the team at Eastside and was an integral fabric of the business and loved his co-workers whom he considered friends and family. His presence….humor…and talent will be very much missed. A graduate of Waltham High School with the class of 2011 he then earned a degree from Mass Bay Community College. He was determined, positive, outgoing and forever optimistic. Life's challenges for Remo often would turn into opportunities. Like the time he learned how to convert a road bike into a motor bike and after some time, research, advice…he had the bike running with a motor he put together…one step at a time. He did it! Mourning his loss are his parents, Maria and Raimondo; his brother, Lorenzo Alonge and his wife, Pinamelissa; his sister, Liana Alonge; his nieces and nephew, Valentina, Gabriella and Michael Alonge; his grandmother, Dora (Fasano) Zullo, all of Waltham. Remo is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Family and friends will honor and remember Remo's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, August 9th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, Newton where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
