ReNee Gentry Palmer

Loved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend.

Surrounded by her family, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother ReNee Gentry Palmer passed peacefully through the veil at her home in Bountiful, Utah, reuniting with the love of her life, Roland.

ReNee was born to Samuel Madsen Gentry and Odessa Baldwin in Ogden, Utah and grew up in Cedar City, Utah. She was the big sister to her brother, Neil. Mom grew up riding horses and spent much of her time with them. Her dad introduced her to her first pony at an early age, and later in life, she enjoyed attending horse races with him. While attending Cedar High, she became the marching band drum majorette. There, she met the love of her life, Roland Palmer. Roland said she “didn’t let school classes interfere with her high school activities such as pep club, band, dance committee, sports,” and other things.

After graduation, Mom attended LDS Business College and lived in the “Beehive House” while completing her education. Courtship with Roland was challenging due to the strict 10:00 p.m. curfew at the “Beehive House,” but they managed to overcome it. On April 28, 1956, they were married and sealed in the St. George Temple for time and all eternity. Mom worked hard to help support her family. Roland often said she earned her Ph.T. (putting hubby through) while he earned his B.S. degree. Mom worked many different jobs and side hustles to support her ever-growing family's needs and wants.

Roland was drafted into military service after he graduated and was assigned to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, with the Army Corps of Engineers. Mom set sail across the Pacific to support and be with Roland. It became a treasured experience for them as mom quickly embraced the people, culture, and beauty of the land, and forged friendships that persisted for decades. Having their first child on the island laid claim to Hawaii as their second home. Mom loved Hawaii and returned there often with her family. Following Roland’s military service, they settled in Bountiful, where they raised their seven children.

Mom loved being outdoors and sharing this enthusiasm with her children. Camping, hiking the Zion Narrows, skiing, house-boating on Lake Powell, and exploring Hawaii were all just part of the routine in spending time together as a family. Mom was a people person. In addition to the deep love she had for her family, she adored her neighbors and friends and found so much happiness spending time with them and cherishing the friendships she had made throughout her life.

Mom was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities and making countless friends along the way. Mom and Dad were thrilled to serve in the Manchester, New Hampshire Mission. On returning home, Mom and Dad served in the Bountiful Temple and as tour guides in the Conference Center at Temple Square. She often emphasized how much she loved the Lord and serving others. We will all miss her. Till we meet again.

She is survived by her seven children: Kevin (Rowena), Lisa (Bruce), Jill (Tom), Kyle (Elise), Brett (Jeanine), Lance (LeAnn), and Dallin (Susibel); 32 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Roland, two grandsons, Zachary Scott Davis and Matthew Madsen Palmer, her parents, Samuel Madsen Gentry and Odessa Baldwin, and her brother, Neil Gentry.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Mueller Park 2nd Ward Chapel, 1825 South 800 East, Bountiful, Utah. Her family will receive friends at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street in Bountiful on Thursday, January 1, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and again from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church prior to services.
