DeAun “René”  Gilreath (Sheppard), 54, entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

René was a wonderful mother, wife, sister, daughter, cousin, friend, and nurse. She obtained her master’s degree and worked as a Registered Nurse for over 20 years. An avid animal lover, she would take in every stray she found. René was a fierce protector and blessing to those she loved.

She is survived by her husband: Billy Gilreath; children: Elizabeth McNair, Devin McNair, Zach Gilreath, and Brianna Gilreath; father: Milton Sheppard (Gail); siblings: James Durham (Mandy) and their children, Annette Durham, Wendy Crawley (Bobby) and children, Michael Sheppard and children, Nick Sheppard (Amanda) and children, Brittany Lively (Blake) and children, and Shelby Chamblee (Aaron)  and children; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her mother: Wanda Durham;  her dad: Howard Durham, and mother and father-in-law: Mary Nell Gilreath and Melvin Gilreath.

The memorial service will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 5:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Bobby Renew officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia, 1120 15 th Street, Augusta, GA 30912.
