Rena was my cousin so I have many memories of her. I loved to visit the dairy ranch her parents owned and loved to ride one of the horses when I did. Rena was patient in saddling a horse for me to ride and giving me instructions on how to ride. When I was a high school sophmore and junior, I worked along side Rena in the Pioneer Cafe. She was my mentor, but I could not handle the large trays that Rena did. She was so strong. The cafe was long and narrow so we got plenty of exercise. I attribute Rena's working years to her long and healthy life. Rena was kind, patient, and loving. Lydia was her greatest joy and she saved so Lydia could attend college and not become a waitress. Her husband Roy was the perfect husband for her and she adored her grandchildren. I admired Rena so much and loved to hear her laugh.
