Renate Hatmaker, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, in Chattanooga, TN. Renate was born on March 15, 1936, in Gera, Germany to the late Fritz and Helena Schmidt.
Renate worked diligently at American Uniform for 20 years, impressing peers with her dedication and commitment. Her professionalism and admirable work ethic shone throughout her time there. Renate's enduring love for her family was mirrored by her strong faith. She wholeheartedly devoted herself to the Lord, her husband, her grandchildren, and both her family and church family. Her unwavering strength and kindness resonated with everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Renate is preceded in death by her parents, Fritz and Helena, her son, Donald Bushnell, and her daughter, Beverly Hatmaker. She leaves behind her loving husband of 41 years, Mack Hatmaker, her son Gary Spurling, her daughter Cindy Hatmaker, her ten grandchildren: Ryan, Rebecca, Tina, Julia, Joel, Chad, Stacey, Megan, Kayla, Holly, in addition to her three great-grandchildren. Renate also leaves several nieces, nephews and family members who will miss her loving presence immensely.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 12:00PM to 2:00PM with the funeral service to follow at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN. The interment will follow the service at Earls Cemetery in McDonald, TN. Reverend Ron Hyde and Reverend Robert Bankston will officiate. Pallbearers include: Ryan Spurling, Jacob Spurling, John Runions and Chad Elliott.
