Renate Hilsberg Ingle

Renate Ingrid Hilsberg Ingle, 86, went to her heavenly home on Monday, October 9, 2023. She peacefully passed away in the comforts of Hospice Home lovingly surrounded by family. She was born in Berlin Germany on October 28, 1936 to the late Friedrich Helmut Hilsberg and Herta Jenny Graf Hilsberg and was the wife of the late James Ronald Ingle, Sr. who died in 2021.

Renate moved to Burlington, NC in 1954.  She wrote to James while he was stationed in the Air Force in Germany. When he returned, they met and hit it off right away.  James was her one true love and they were married for 63 years. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Renate. She loved spending time with family and friends, walks with her beloved yorkiepoo, “Schatzi”, going to church, reading, singing and caring for others. Renate had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities.

Renate retired after 33 years with Harris Teeter. She was a devoted longtime church member at Springwood Presbyterian Church where she was the choir director for over 45 years. Renate enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to church, helping others, reading, and singing.

Renate is survived by her children, James “Ron” Ronald Ingle, Jr. and wife Mitzi, Valerie Jean McBane and husband Benny, Vernon Roger Ingle and wife Carolyn; grandchildren, James Ingle and wife Meghan, Amber Parker, Madison Ingle, Morgan Ingle and Melissa Ingle; great grandchild, Rylan Parker; a brother, Dieter Hilsberg and wife Evi; a sister, Waltraud “Trudy” Sidlauskas and husband William; several nieces and nephews. Renate was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ingrid Davis.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 13, 2023 at Springwood Presbyterian Church by Pastor Marybeth with the burial to follow in the church cemetery.  Viewing will be held from 1:00pm - 1:45pm in the church prior to the service.  The family will receive friends following the burial with a reception in the fellowship hall and other times at the home.
