Newcomer Funeral Home - AkronRenate L. Moellmann, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, in Danbury of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She was born on May 25, 1935, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Renate was the proud wife of Guenter Moellmann, whom she met in Germany and shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they made their home in the United States, where they built a life filled with love and joyful memories.
Renate dedicated much of her life to her family, embodying the essence of a loving wife and mother. Known affectionately as "Omi," she cherished her time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Renate's warmth extended beyond her family, as she found joy in hosting gatherings and parties, welcoming friends and loved ones into her home.
Her career included being a homemaker and working as a seamstress in a bridal shop, where she contributed her artistic talents and attention to detail. Renate was a vibrant member of her community; she was actively involved in The German Family Society, where she sang in the Harmony Singing Group, served in the Ladies Auxiliary Group, and held a position on the Board. Additionally, she was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Tallmadge.
Throughout her life, Renate traveled extensively with her husband, visiting several countries and embarking on many cruises with friends. She also enjoyed exploring local sights through bus tours, creating a wealth of cherished memories during her adventures.
Renate leaves behind her loving husband Guenter, daughters Diane (Mike) Deitle and Ellen Cassidy, grandchildren Christopher (Shannon) Pilz, Jennifer (Josh) Street, Julie Blackburn, Casey Blackburn, Kyle Cassidy, Jamie Cassidy, and great-grandchildren Jordyn, Jacob, Max, Piper, Kash, and Keyana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Anna (Levi) Hilse, as well as her sister Anita and brother Karl.
The family invites all to attend a Celebration of Life in honor of Renate on December 6, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the German Family Society of Akron, located at 3871 Ranfield Rd, Kent, OH 44240. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family and friends to come together to reminisce and celebrate the remarkable life of Renate L. Moellmann.
Renate (Omi) will be remembered fondly for her loving spirit and the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her. She will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
