Rene Villafuerte, 63, of San Benito, TX was called home to Heaven on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Rene was born to Francisco and Eva Villafuerte on November 27, 1961, in San Benito, Texas. He was a devoted family man, avid hunter and dedicated to the catholic church. When he wasn't chasing around his grandchildren, Rene was found in a hunting blind or barbecuing for his family. Nothing brought Rene greater joy than spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren.
Rene is survived by his spouse, Theresa, his three children, Rene (Lauren), Kacey (Rey) and Ryan, his grandchildren, Olivia, Rene, and Russell, his four siblings, Francisco Jr., David, Mary Lou George and Elma Wood (Joel), his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Eva, and his brother, Enrique.
Visitation will be held on September 8, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at St. Benedict Catholic Church at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at St. Benedict Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Joel Flores, Rev. Jean Olivier Sambu, Rev. Edouard Atangana and Rev. Genaro Garza III. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
