Renée Dushman, (nee Dobkin), age 92, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, surrounded by family. She was a cherished sister, devoted wife, loving mother, loyal friend, aunt, and cousin, and beloved "Mema" to ten grandchildren. She lived a life filled with love, family, travel, and sunshine.
Smart, energetic, demanding, strong, respected, trusted, and fiercely independent, Renée was a force of nature. While attending the University of Illinois, she met her Sunday Kind of Love, Stanley Dushman, whose kindness and humor matched her fiery spirit. Together, they created a home that radiated warmth and possibility, raising three sons and welcoming ten grandchildren, who became the brightest lights in her life.
Renée had a zest for adventure, as well as for teaching and learning. She loved transversing the world, soaking up new cultures, and savoring life's simple joys-roses in bloom, warmth on her face, and a perfectly timed investment in the stock market. Her work as a psychotherapist allowed her to touch lives across the globe, offering insights, providing compassion that left a lasting imprint, and enhancing sex lives. And wherever she went, whether at a family gathering, a favorite restaurant, or at the beauty parlor, she shared her passion for life, teaching lessons about investing, resilience, and joy to anyone willing to listen.
Her legacy is one of love, wisdom, and adventure. Renée lived life on her terms, with a heart as strong as it was tender and a spirit as lovingly stubborn as it was generous. Her family and friends will carry her laughter, her lessons, and her light for generations to come.
Renée is survived by her sons, Russel (Debbie) Dushman, Chuck (Rebecca) Dushman, Eddie (fiancée Lisa Brown) Dushman, ten grandchildren - Rory, Bradley, Kyle, Ashley (Dan) Marshall, Brittany, Caleb, Ryan, Jenna, Benjamin, and Joshua - her sister, Judith Dobkin, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by her brother, Henry Dobkin and his wife, June Dobkin-Andreani and her sister Mitzi Sigele and her husband, Norman Sigele.
Service Monday will be private for the family only. Renée's service will be livestreamed Monday, 12:30 p.m. CT on her webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. Donations would be appreciated to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network)), www.PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network).org.
