The family were long-time Villisca residents, but in 1953 they moved to Portland, Oregon, then purchased a 20-acre farm in Sherwood, Oregon, where they lived for many years and where Rennie went to school, graduating in 1968, and then joined the Army in 1970. He was a computer programmer for most of his life and loved doing music posts for an internet radio show called Groovy Reflections. Rennie was a Mensa member and very versed with electronics.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dencil in 2006 and Vera in 1977.
He is survived by his wife, Lee Key, and stepson Kelsen Key of Jacksonville, Florida; his two daughters and their families: Abigail (Dan) Rausch, sons Nicholas and Christopher of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Tyler Logan Brenton and daughters Eleanor and Magnolia of Titusville, Pennsylvania; sister Loretta Brenton of Villisca, Iowa and over 260 cousins all around the United States.
