Reno Franceschi Obituary

Published by Legacy on Apr. 10, 2025.
Reno Joseph Franceschi, passed away on April 7, 2025, at the age of 90. Reno was the beloved husband of the late Loretta and the late Virginia; loving father of Joyce Franceschi (the late Al Larson), Karen Franceschi (Susan Kujawa) and Sue Franceschi (Michelle Gutierrez); dearest brother of the late Lola Dunham and Frank Franceschi and brother in law of the late George Lutzka (Rosalie O'Brien); fond uncle of Joanne Franceschi, John Franceschi, Lee Franceschi, Denise Saverine, Dan Lutzka and the late Carol LaBarbara.
A man of great warmth and sincerity, Reno was known for his gentle and generous nature. His soft-spoken demeanor endeared him to many, as he navigated life with kindness and authenticity.
Reno spent 62 years working at DaValle Jewelers. He earned special recognition for outstanding service from the Harwood Heights Police Department after courageously intervening during a robbery in which a female employee was taken hostage. His selfless act of chasing after the offender and demanding that he take him instead is a testament to his bravery and kind spirit.
Reno was also an avid sports fan, passionately cheering for his beloved Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks. He found joy in playing golf and his luck at slot machines often added excitement to his outings. Additionally, he had a deep fondness for traveling and dancing, pursuits that brought him great happiness throughout his life.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM until chapel prayers at 11:15 AM at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 West Lawrence Avenue, Norridge, before traveling to Queen of Peace Parish / Our Lady Mother of the Church, 8747 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago for Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon (click here to watch the livestream of the Mass). Interment will follow at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in Niles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made in memory of Reno may be made to the charity of your choice.
Reno will be remembered for the love and joy he brought to all who knew him. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.
