Reta Faye Blair, 86, of Carmi, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. She was born on March 16, 1938, in White County, the daughter of Halsey Fred and Mary Myrtle (Hon) Higginson. She graduated from Crossville High School in 1956. Reta married Thurman E. Blair on January 20, 1979, and he preceded her in death on April 11, 2014. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing and socializing with friends. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Reta is survived by her children, Perry (Connie) Jacobs of Crossville, IL, Ronja Canady of Crossville, IL. and Lisa (Tim) Bass of Carmi, IL; grandchildren, Kelton Canady, Brandon Jacobs, Cody Jacobs, Kayci Heil, Kelsie Cutchin and Wesley Cutchin; five great-grandchildren; a step-grandson, Israel Foster; siblings, Gene Higginson of Farmington, NM. and Anna Ruth Wiggins of Homa, LA; and special friends from Kentucky, Arlene Elmore, and David and Shirley Bell. In addition to her husband, Thurman E. Blair, Reta is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Helen Kuykendall, Mary Frances Hargrave, Harold Wayne Higginson and Bill Higginson.
Funeral services for Reta Blair will be held at 12:00 p.m, on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at Stokes Chapel Cemetery in Crossville. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Reta's memory to St. Jude’s's Children's Hospital and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Donations may also be mailed to 609 W. Main St. Carmi, IL. 62821.
