Reta Kay Lavy

Age 88, of Troy, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025. She was born on January 14, 1937 in Dayton, Ohio to Millard and Orpha (Garber) Denlinger. On April 24, 1955, she married Everett Lavy at her family home in Trotwood, Ohio. Together they shared 70 years. Reta was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren New Conference Church and her faith is what carried her throughout her many years. Reta found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She poured her heart into crocheting, quilting, and sewing. Reta crocheted afghans for each of her grandchildren, and finished her last afghan after suffering her first stroke. Canning peaches and salmon was another of Reta's favorites as she and Everett traveled to Barker, New York each fall to enjoy some time away and spend time with special friends. Reta spent many hours in the kitchen cooking and baking many delicious treats or her family, friends, and neighbors. She found joy in gardening and canning and freezing fruits and vegetables to eat throughout the year. Reta loved spending time working on the family farm.

She will be missed and remembered by her loving husband Everett; children and their spouses Larry & Kelly Lavy, Lowell & Kim Lavy, Lynn & Renee Lavy, Lonnie Lavy, Luann & Donnie Miller; grandchildren Kyle Lavy, Kip & Nikki Lavy, Kyra & Jeff Tron, Jamen & Jen Lavy, Jaclyn & Jorde Spitler, Jessilyn & Tyler Wise, Blake & Kacie Lavy, Brandon & Amanda Lavy, Trevor & Sarah Lavy, Trinity & Allan Sink, Trista & Dan Bodenmiller, Trelissa & Sam Jackson, Treyton & Kassidi Lavy, Treanna & Tyler Clark, Trace Lavy, Macy Miller, and Mason Miller; siblings and their spouses Donna Williamson, Marty Brubaker, Lena & Darrell Bower, Tom Denlinger, Edie Murphy, Bob & Sharon Lavy, Eileen & John Henderson; 24 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
