Rev. Bobby Franklin Fann, 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at his daughter’s home surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Johnny Thilmar and Ruby Lowe Fann and was the husband of the late Patsy Taylor Fann who went to be with the Lord in 2014.
Rev. Fann served as the Pastor of Glen Raven Baptist Church from January of 1975 until his death. Prior to that, he served as the youth pastor, leader of the Bus Ministry and a Sunday School Teacher at Altamahaw Baptist Church licensed under the ministry of Frank Haith.
Rev. Fann not only served his church, but the entire community. For thirty years he preached on the radio stations WSML and WPET. His television ministry began in the early 80’s acting as a visiting cohost of the program “Heartbeat” and preaching on a weekly broadcast called, “God’s Way To Heaven”. During his ministry, he also had programs on stations ABC 48 and 45, CW and Greensboro Cable.
His main focus was evangelism and making sure that everyone knew Jesus and was ready for Heaven. He was well known for his servant’s heart and his faithfulness to his congregation and the community
Bobby is survived by his daughter, Robin Fann Fitzgerald and her husband, Sean of Elon; sons, Johnny Fann and wife, Rose and Robert “Chris” Fann and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Joshua Fitzgerald, Matthew Fitzgerald, Tabatha Fann Ellis, Brandon Fann and Johnathan Fann. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, Larry Fann.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Bobby will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Glen Raven Baptist Church by Pastor Sean Fitzgerald with the burial to follow in the Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm Friday at Glen Raven Baptist Church and other times at the home of his daughter, Robin Fitzgerald.
