Stedman
Rev. David Morris Cashwell, 73, of Stedman, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Concord Baptist Church in Autryville with Reverend Charles Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:50 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at Concord Baptist Church prior to the service.
Mr. Cashwell was a native of Sampson County, the son of Alvin Bert Cashwell and Ethelene “Cooter” Nunnery Cashwell. He was preceded in death by his parents; and several aunts and uncles. He served as Chief of Stedman Fire Department for over 25 years and was also an EMS instructor and a Cumberland County Rescue Squad member. He served as the youth leader for Concord Baptist Church for over 50 years, deacon member and deacon chair for Concord Baptist Church, and the church council. He was active in numerous mission trips, but Samaritan’s Purse served a special place in his heart.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Gail Godbold Cashwell; two daughters, Deana Cooke and husband Johnny, and Blair Cashwell and wife Samantha; two granddaughters, Raegan Cooke and Amilya Cashwell; four brothers, Harvey and wife Cathy, Jerry and wife Linda, Don and wife Pam, and Joey and wife Debbie; an uncle, Alfred (Duke) Nunnery and wife Jane; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Concord Baptist Church Children Ministries, P.O. Box 429, Stedman, NC 28391.
