Rev. George H. Knight

     Rev. George Harrison Knight, 97, of Carmi, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Wabash Senior Living in Carmi. He was born on June 1, 1927, in Mounds, Illinois, the son of George Herbert and Mamie (Volner) Knight. He married Ruby Ellen Carter on January 11, 1946, and she preceded him in death on June 23, 2022. George worked at White County Lumber, Wags and Big John's. He was a minister until he retired. He was a member of the New Beginning Church of God in Carmi. 

    George is survived by his children, Larry (Loretta) Knight of Carmi, IL, Janet (Mike) Boren of Carmi, IL, Vickie (Gary) Anderson of Norris City, IL, Tim (Amanda) Knight; of Belleville, IL. and Dennis (Kathy) Knight of Cumberland, VA; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Opal Hankla of Dundee, IL. In addition to his wife, Ruby Ellen Knight, George is preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Dennis Morningstar; two children, Michael L. Knight and Roger Knight; a daughter-in-law, Linda Knight; a grandchild, Cristan Michael Knight; and siblings, Rev. H.V. Knight, Lloyd Knight, Mary Jane Knight, Linda Hamm, Florence Bustamonte and Ruth Landis.

    Funeral services for George Knight will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December, 17, 2024, at New Beginning Church of God in Carmi, with burial at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024, at New Beginning Church of God. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's memory to New Beginning Church of God and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Donations may also be mailed to 609 W.
