The journey of life for Ronald Thomas Scott began on March 8, 1950, in Los Angeles, California. He was the only child born to the union of Frank Thomas Scott and Ida Vaugh Scott. He was a high school graduate and played football while attending college.

As a young man he would spend the summer with his grandmother in the Smithton Community. He made friends easily and always looked forward to visiting Smithton. After several years of living in California he decided to move to Gurdon where he met the love of his life Michelle Harper, and they were married on Valentine’s Day 1993.

He made a permanent commitment to serve the Lord. He answered his call to preach and served as pastor of Mt. Isreal CME Church in Atlanta, Arkansas until his health failed. Their ministry flourished and grew.

He loved his family dearly and showered them with an abundance of love. He was a stalwart provider, giving his wife the opportunity to enjoy the finer things that life offered. He was a simple man who cherished the true meaning of community. He worked within, and throughout the community, modeling trusted leadership. Although tall in stature, he had a gentle and loving heart. Ronald was always fashionable and took great pride in his appearance. He had a vast collection of fragranced oils that left a lingering pleasurable aroma.

His pilgrimage was modest, but full and fulfilling. Ronald did it his way. On Friday, April 4, 2025, he slipped the bonds of this life for a life in eternity. His independent spirit, iron will, and strong character will never be duplicated but leaves an impression on the lives of those he touched and enriched along this life’s journey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and leaves fond memories with his wife, Michelle Scott of Gurdon, AR; his children, Dana Scott, D’Ann (Greg) Hobson and Ronald Scott, Jr., all of Vallejo, CA; his adopted daughter who referred to him as “Uncle-Dad”, Chandra M. (Walter, III.) Watkins of Arkadelphia, AR; Makayla Harper, a niece raised as a daughter of Gurdon, AR; a bonus daughter, Katina (Ronnie) Robinson of Atlanta, GA; and an uncle, Frank (Dorothy) Scott of Los Angeles, CA. He also leaves 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, as well as brothers and sisters-in-law and the Kingdom Authority Christina Ministries Family.
