Reva Alice Smith George

 

Reva Alice Smith George returned to her Father in Heaven Monday, September 4, 2023 in Farmington Utah. Reva was born February 27, 1936 in Rexburg Idaho, the daughter of Nellie Eunice Nelson Smith and Overton Arnold (Bus) Smith.

 

Reva was raised in Felt, Idaho. Her family was a close one, and they often gathered with extended family members and visited her many aunts and uncles regularly. She grew to love the mountains, flowers, books and needlework that she enjoyed on the farm.  The family spent winters in Rexburg to allow for better education which cultivated her lifelong love of learning.

 

Reva graduated from Madison high school then continued her education at Ricks College, graduating in 1955. She earned a B.A. in business education  with a minor in English from Brigham Young University in 1958. While she was student teaching in Tooele, Utah, she met Revell George at a church caroling party. They were married for eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 28, 1959.  They settled in Kaysville, Utah, where they raised one son and five daughters.  Reva loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them whether on trips, family gatherings, visits, picnics, or calls.

 

Reva loved to teach and developed skills, confidence and problem solving in others at home, in her work, and in many of her callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Reva spent her career as a teacher in Davis County School District. She taught English at Layton High school for many years before switching to teaching elementary school. She was a very intelligent and knowledgeable woman who had the capacity foster growth in those around her as she shared her wisdom. 

 

Reva was a creative person and loved to give away the things she made. She sewed, painted, cooked and crocheted many gifts from fabulous meals, epic birthday cakes, matching Easter dresses to hand painted birthday cards and beautiful watercolor paintings.

 

Reva was a loving and unselfish person who found meaning in faith and service to others. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and magnified many callings over her life. There were many people who enjoyed the comfort of her kind words and delicious food. Her generosity and prayers blessed countless lives- often with nobody else knowing.

 

Reva is survived by five daughters ReNae, DeAnne, Karyn, (Kirk), J’Lene and Michelle, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, three siblings, Arlo (Mary), Lynn (Sharon, Yvonne) and Colleen (Wayne) and many other beloved family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Revell, her parents Nellie and Bus Smith, and her son Bryan David George.

 

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N Main St, Kaysville, Utah. There will be a viewing for family and friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The interment will take place after the funeral at the Kaysville City Cemetery.

 

The family would like to thank the branch presidency, relief society presidency, and members of the Legacy Park Lane branch for the friendship, love, and service to our mother and grandmother.
