Reverend Bobby Glenn Whisnant, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on May 3, 1959, Bobby lived a life rich in faith, love, and dedication, leaving behind a lasting legacy of kindness and community service.
Bobby dedicated over 30 years of his career to Wix Filters, where he served as a supervisor, impacting the lives of many with his strong work ethic and leadership. His contributions to the workplace were immeasurable, and he retired with pride, leaving behind a reputation for excellence and integrity.
Education was important to Bobby; he received his associate degree, which reflected his commitment to personal growth and learning. Despite his professional accomplishments, it was his role as a family man that brought him the greatest joy. Bobby was a man of God, devoted to his faith, and cherished the teachings of the gospel. He was an active member of the Faith Baptist Church, where he enjoyed preaching and reading his Bible.
Bobby treasured spending time with his grandbabies, sharing love and laughter in every moment. Known for shaking his tea glass and playfully bossing people around, he brought a sense of humor and warmth to every gathering. His delightful presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Cynthia Spencer Whisnant; children Cassey Lawrence (Brian), Carol Gilley (Martin), Bobby Glenn Whisnant, Jr., and Jeremy Whisnant (Faith); as well as his wonderful grandchildren, Taylan, Braden, Olivia, Katlyn, Megan and husband, James, Matthew, Sydney, and Sawyer; and great grandchildren Waylon and Lainey. Bobby is also survived by his sister, Crystal White (Robert), along with many cherished friends.
Bobby's proudest accomplishments include his service with the as past Master of the Dallas Masonic Lodge #263, the Charlotte Scottish Rite, and Gaston County Shine Club, his involvement with the exemplifying his commitment to community and charitable service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard Glenn Whisnant and Betty Jo Hughes Whisnant, and his sister, Carolyn Denise Conner.
The family invites all who knew Bobby to join them in celebrating his life. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation in Gastonia, NC, followed by a Celebration of Life service from 2:00 PM at the same location with Reverend David Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Honor section with a Masonic Rites to follow. Pallbearers will be Taylan Lawrence, Braden Lawrence, Matthew Gilley, Martin Gilley, James Connard, and Benjamin Neal. Bobby’s life will be honored and remembered with gratitude for the love he shared and the light he brought into the lives of those around him.
