Philip Dale Patterson, 79, our beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Granddad, Uncle, and Pastor went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, May 16th, 2025, at The Gathering Together in Plainfield, Indiana.
Philip was born August 20, 1945, in Front Royal, Virginia to the late Woodrow R. and Leler O. Patterson. He grew up in Atkins, Virginia where he accumulated an abundance of stories he often embellished and shared with whomever would listen. His shenanigans did not end there. He left “the mountain” to attend college at Anderson University, in Indiana. Although he left “the mountain” his heart always remained. After graduating from Anderson, he went onto Christian Theological Seminary. In 2021, Philip was recognized for 50 years of service in the Ministry.
Throughout his life, his careers were diverse, but one thing remained…his dedication to ministry and a life of service wherever he was. He can be remembered, often, reflecting on Psalms 118:24 “This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad therein.”
An adamant follower of politics, avid fan of the Pacers, and adored patriarch of the family, you could often find Philip tinkering outside on one of his projects.
Philip is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen Archer, of 48 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Anneliese Marquis (John), his son, Benjamin Archer-Patterson (Sarah), grandsons, Quintin Marquis (Emma), and Micah Patterson, granddaughters, Johanna Marquis, Lilly Patterson, Ruby Patterson, Olivia Marquis, Bethany Patterson, and his brother, Jerry Patterson (Tara).
Services will be held on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, at Avon Community Church of God 2309 N. County Road 800 E. Avon, Indiana 46123. Officiating will be Pastors Bill Sandifer and David Sivley. Visitation will be from 12-2pm. Services will follow.
Place of interment will be Roselawn Cemetery in Marion, Virginia.
