Rex Biggs Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Inc. - Springfield on Nov. 27, 2023.
After a brief hospitalization, Rex Herman Biggs passed from this world on Sunday morning, November 26, 2023. Rex leaves behind his wife of 21 years, Marilyn Starnes-Biggs. Rex was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Ida Biggs, and deceased wife Ann Biggs. Rex has a sister, Nancy (Biggs) Major of Webb City. Rex and deceased wife Ann have three children, Jill (Biggs) Wells and husband Joe Wells of Joplin, Missouri; Jane (Biggs) Sperry and her late husband Doug Sperry of Lowell, Arkansas; Rex Scott Biggs and wife Pinkie Biggs of San Antonio, Texas. Also surviving are his three stepdaughters, Susan (Starnes) Pon of Springfield; Jacque Starnes of Strafford; Chantel (Starnes) Rotert and husband Rusty Rotert of Springfield. Rex also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Rex had many accomplishments in his life. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1954 and enjoyed attending his class reunions. He was a CB & Ham radio operator with his call sign of Salty. Rex was a Shriner and a 32nd degree Mason. He was a testing technician for EaglePicher, he owned and operated the Joplin Imports Subaru dealership, he was a salesman of Morton Salt all over the territory and he worked at French's. He ended up again at EaglePicher in Lithium Battery sales until he retired.
Rex loved to laugh and joke around. He loved to tell stories especially about his life journeys. Rex was an avid golfer for many years and had quite a collection of golf clubs. Rex saw more and experienced more than most people ever dream of. Rex and Marilyn were meant to find each other, after loosing their first spouses. Rex and Marilyn just "fit" together. One of their favorite things to do was go on a cruise, and they did several. They experienced life together and they did it their way. Rex never met a stranger and cared about everyone. Faith, family and friends were very important to Rex.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Central Christian Church. A reception will follow at the church. Burial will be at 2:00 PM in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, MO.
