Rex Garon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home - Hammond on Sep. 22, 2025.
Duane, age 67, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, September 21, 2025. He was a resident of Livingston, LA. A devoted man of faith, he served proudly as a deacon of Old Zion Hill Baptist Church and was a respected Mason of both the Independence and Albany Lodges. Duane was the proud owner of Garon Electric, LLC, where his passion for his work and commitment to excellence shone through every project. Known for his easygoing nature and warm spirit, Duane was the kind of man who made everyone feel welcome. His family was his greatest joy, and nothing brought him more happiness than being "Pops" to his grandchildren, who were truly the light of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and hard work that will be cherished by all who knew him. Duane will be deeply missed. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Vickie I. Garon; daughter, Shea Schexnayder (Blair); son, Trampas Amedee (Becky); sister, Peggy Garon; brothers, Dale Garon (Van), Richard Garon (Sonya); grandchildren, Blaine Schexnayder (Lacey Soileau), Britney Zeppuhar (Zane), Alyssa Punkay (Josh), Austin Amedee (Aubre Thibodeaux); great-grandchildren, Addison Schexnayder, Emery Punkay; nieces, Mariah Howe (Nolan), Gabby Chandler; nephews, Kendal Garon, Joshua Garon, Kristoffer Garon (Krista), Andrew Garon (Kelsey), Ricky Garon (Harley), Braxton Chandler; sister-in-law, Laura Garon; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Kathleen Garon; sister, Lori Ann Garon; and brother, Timothy Curtis Garon. Pallbearers will be his nephews and grandsons. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Old Zion Hill Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Gary Dennis and Pastor Carlin Sanders will officiate with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
