Rex Gayheart

Rex Gayheart, age 86 of McDowell, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at his residence. He was born February 21, 1939 in McDowell, Kentucky to the late Lem Gayheart & Parthena Newsome Gayheart. He was the husband of Ada Wright Gayheart. Along with his wife he is survived by his Sons: Rex (Cynthia) Gayheart Jr. of McDowell, Kentucky, Mickey (Tonya) Gayheart of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Mark (Emogene) Gayheart of McDowell, Kentucky & Matthew (the late Kris) Gayheart of McDowell, Kentucky; Daughters: Brenda Gayheart (Shayne) Wicker of Mousie, Kentucky, Beverly Gayheart (John) Moore of Hi Hat, Kentucky & Parthena Gayheart (Kevin) Bartley of McDowell, Kentucky; 19 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren & 3 on the way. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter: Elleree Jo Burkett; Brothers & Sisters: Elba Gayheart, Sterlion Gayheart, Dial Gayheart, Reginold Gayheart, Raymond Gayheart, Barbara Blair, Edna Horn, Lucrecy Gayheart, Alma Dye, Joanne Dye, Melda Gayheart & Millie Gayheart. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Visitation will begin Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 6pm at Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist Church, McDowell, Kentucky (IBA) and will continue all day Sunday, January 11, 2026
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 12, 2026 at 11am at the church with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating
Burial will follow at Greenbury Hall Cemetery, McDowell, Kentucky
