Rex Alan Good, 68, of Parsons, passed away at 2:03 a.m., Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
He was born on July 27, 1956 in Parsons to Richard E. and Marie (Carpenter) Good. Rex grew up in Parsons and graduated from Labette County High School in 1974. He and his dad, Richard farmed and ran a trucking business until 1981. In 1981, they started R&R Cycle then he moved to Guthrie, OK the following year to continue in the truck driving business. He later earned a teaching certificate from Oklahoma State University in Welding. Rex worked for Ames Construction in Utah before moving back to Kansas. When Rex moved back to Kansas, he had several different businesses, including Good Trucking in Altoona, KS. He was so proud to have helped rebuild Hwy 47 between Hwy 75 and Hwy 169, which every time he drove on it, he would make sure you knew that he had built a nice highway. Rex was presently employed by TCI in Fredonia, where he had gained an even bigger family.
Rex enjoyed many things over the years including, running heavy equipment, farming, riding motorcycles with his friends, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, children and grandchildren. He loved Grand Lake and being on the lake in his boat. He loved taking care of his many dogs and cats that would show up at whatever house he was at to be fed and pampered.
He is survived by the love of his life, Stevie Dwyer of the home; son, Cody Good and his wife, Heather, of Grove, OK; daughters, Courtney Leck and her husband, Josey of Neodesha, KS, Shelby Good of Buffalo, KS, Brittney Good of Neodesha, KS; a step son, Seth Dwyer and his wife, Melanie of Parsons; his sister, Natalie Good of Altoona, KS and a nephew, Roy Good of Parsons; several grandchildren and a great-grandchild with one on the way. Rex also had several brothers and anyone who was younger than him was known as one of his kids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will have a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024 at his family's home 230 W. 13th St., Altoona, KS 66710.
Memorials are suggested to (PALS) Proud Animal Lovers Shelter and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
The Carson-Wall Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.
