Rex Mayer Obituary
Rex Irwin Mayer, 90, of Brewster, died Monday, October 28, 2024, at Citizens Medical Center, in Colby. He was born December 16, 1933, on the family farm north of Brewster, to William and Martha Emma Lucille (Erwin) Mayer. Rex graduated from Brewster High School and attended college for three years. He served in the United States Army as a paratrooper. On November 28, 1958, Rex was united in marriage to Doris Reynolds Harris at the Methodist Church in Troy, NC. To this union five children were born. Rex was a lifelong farmer and rancher and was a member of the Brewster United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister-in-law.
Rex is survived by his wife Doris; children, Bob (Dawn) Mayer, Sherri (Fred) Armstrong, Shelli (Lowell) Carpenter, Shane (Harvey) Benham and Chris Mayer; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. with viewing from 9:30 a.m. until the service, Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Brewster Methodist Church, with burial in Beulah Cemetery, Colby, KS. Memorials may be made to Citizens Medical Center for the Serenity Room and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701. For information or condolences visit baalmannmortuary.com
