Rex Snelson

Rex Snelson age 81 of Greeneville passed away peacefully Thursday July 31, 2025 at his home. He was a member of First Christian Church and an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife of 60 yrs Phyllis Woolard Snelson, children and their spouses Dr. Bryon and Kim Snelson, Dr. Stephanie Snelson and Thomas Guinn, and Kimberly and Brandon Jones, grandchildren Elliott Snelson and fiancé Kailin Huelsman, Bailey and Gage Kesterson, Cade Snelson, Austin Jones, Brynlee Jones, great grandson Barrett Kesterson, special grand dogs, brother Bill Snelson, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carolyn and Paul Norton, sister-in-law Annette Warden, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Ola Snelson, father-in-law and mother-in-law Ernest and Margaret Woolard, brothers and sisters-in-law Glenn and Martha Snelson, Arthur and Geneva Snelson, sister and brother-in-law Ira and Bert Wilburn, sisters-in-law Judi Snelson and Judy Woolard, brother-in-law Merrill Woolard, special niece and great niece Heather and Presley Chiakowsky, special nephew Adrian Woolard, and his beloved dog GiGi. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice including Tammy Ambrose and Rhonda Darnell. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm Sunday August 3, 2025 at Jeffers Funeral Chapel at Afton. The funeral service will follow at 4pm Sunday with Pastor Tommy Staggs and Pastor Tyson Hodge officiating, special friend Charles Weems and nephew Randall Snelson speaking and music being provided by Cathy Snelson. The burial will follow in Greenelawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Pee Wee Snelson, Doug Snelson, Mark Snelson, Todd Snelson, Kent Snelson, Thomas Guinn, Brandon Jones, and Jeffrey Norton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
