We deeply mourn the loss of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Rex Gerald "Jerry" Tener on December 18, 2023. Jerry was born on October 13, 1938 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to his parents Sam Tener and Eunice King.

Jerry found his soulmate at work and on August 15, 1978, they joined in matrimony, creating a bond that would withstand the test of time. Throughout his life, Jerry served his country with great pride, dedicating over 30 years to the Tulsa Air National Guard, where he achieved the rank of E-7. His infectious personality and friendly nature led him to know and be known by countless individuals, even from other states. His children often found themselves patiently waiting as he engaged in conversations with familiar faces, a testament to his ability to connect with others effortlessly.

A stranger was simply a friend he had not yet met, as Jerry possessed a genuine warmth that made everyone feel welcome in his presence. He cherished the moments spent with his loved ones, and the reunion with family and friends in the afterlife brings him immeasurable joy, where conversations have no time limit. His love for his family knew no bounds, and when his first grandchild, Cara, was born, she became the daughter he had always longed for.

Jerry had a generous spirit and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His faith in the Lord was unwavering, and he fearlessly proclaimed his love for God. Jerry served faithfully as an usher until his physical limitations prevented him from doing so. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, often juggling two jobs to ensure their well-being.

In his leisure time, Jerry found solace in nature, taking leisurely walks and finding relaxation at the beach. He had a deep appreciation for the vibrant city of New Orleans and the soulful melodies of Jazz music. Jerry also had a love for indulging in food but his love was challenged by his battle with diabetes, leading him to make drastic changes to his diet. Despite his own struggles, Jerry always had a mischievous side, especially when it came to snacks for his grandchildren. Helen would hide the snacks from Jerry to resist the temptation of consuming them all himself. His favorite snacks included any kind of chips and Cheez-Its.

Today, as we bid farewell to Jerry, let us remember him for the love he shared, the joy he brought, and the impact he made on the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him. May his spirit live on in our hearts, and may his memory be a guiding light for us all.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Eunice Margaret King, and his son, Scott Gerald Tener of Coffeyville, Kansas

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Diane Tener of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, his sons Rex Gerald Tener II of Los Altos, California, Jimmie Joe Martin, Christopher Ray Martin, and Brandon Alan Tener of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Cara Leigh Pinedo, Phoenix, Arizona; Brady Cole Tener, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Jack Dawson Tener, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Evelyn Reese Tener, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; great granddaughter Harper Regan Pinedo, Phoenix, Arizona.
