Rex "Quinton" Walden, Jr., a beloved son, brother, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, August 4, 2025, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. Quinton was 29 years old, born on October 10, 1995, in
Hendersonville, North Carolina, where he spent a life full of laughter and joy.
A resident of Hendersonville, Quinton was known for his kind heart and infectious sense of humor. He was a beacon of light to all who knew him, spreading happiness with his jokes and laughter. Quinton often said that seeing others happy "took his pain away," a testament to his selfless nature.
Quinton found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing and spending time playing his Xbox. He also cherished his time working each season at The Haunted Farm in Hendersonville, where he delighted in playfully scaring people of all ages.
Quinton's faith was an important part of his life, and he attended Friendship Baptist Church in Saluda, North Carolina, drawing strength and community from his congregation.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Howard and Judy Black; adoptive grandfather, Thomas F. Laughter; and his aunt, Brenda Black.
Quinton leaves behind a loving family, including his parents, Rex Quinton Walden, Sr. and Sharon Black Walden of
Hendersonville, North Carolina; two brothers, Allen Black (Teri) and Carson Walden; one sister, Tiffany Walden; two nieces, Natalie and Francesca Black; his paternal grandmother, Hattie Walden; adoptive grandmother, Marqueta Laughter; adoptive brother, Jason Cole; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He will also be dearly missed by his faithful canine companion, Ozzie.
Services to celebrate Quinton's life will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 09, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of Quinton's life at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Lionell Burgan.
Though Quinton's time with us was brief, his impact was profound. His legacy of laughter and kindness continues to inspire all who knew him. As we remember Quinton, let us honor his memory by carrying forward his spirit of generosity and joy.
