Reyna Vargas, born on January 6, 1956, in San Marcos, Texas, passed away on September 21, 2024, in Toledo, Ohio. Her parents were Natividad Rodriguez and Benito Sanchez. She was also raised by her stepfather Sostenes Rodriguez. She will be missed by her daughter Rosa Ann Vargas and son Daniel Vargas, Jr. She is also proceeded by her daughter Victoria Vargas. Known affectionately as "Nani," Reyna brought joy and laughter to everyone around her. She devoted her life to her family, especially her beloved grandchildren: Amari Nevaeh Vargas, John Daniel Allen Turnbull, Alicia Gabriella Vargas, Taitianna Victoria Vargas, Emma Marie Vargas, Arye'Anna Marie Vargas, and one unborn grandchild.
Reyna's favorite pastimes included playing her handheld Yahtzee game, watching soap operas, and sharing long conversations with her sister Angelita and her Tio and Tia in Texas. She had a passion for food, savoring dishes from San Marcos Restaurant and Long John Silver's, along with her daughter's carnitas and guacamole. A lover of music, she enjoyed the sounds of Vicente, cumbias, and bands like Mazz.
Throughout her life, Reyna worked in greenhouses, where she found fulfillment. Though she did not graduate high school, her creativity shone through her early dreams of becoming a fashion designer, as well as her unique ability to make clothing for Barbies using her mother's sewing machine. Her sense of humor and penchant for making others laugh were defining traits that left a lasting impact on her family and friends.
In her spare time, Reyna enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, including "I Love Lucy," "Dancing With the Stars," "The Young and the Restless," and "The Bold and The Beautiful." A fan of sports, she loved watching tennis and figure skating. Reyna's spirit will be remembered fondly by her family, including her siblings: Angelita Torres, Lupe Morales, and her brother David Sanchez. She is proceeded by death by her brothers William Sanchez and Ben Sanchez and sister Rosa M. Santillan. She will be deeply missed for her warmth, laughter, and the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
