My memories of Rey begin at age 5, when Lisa and I became friends in kindergarten. Somehow the whole family was drawn together around the same time. My brother became friends with Mike and Gary at school. My father became friends with Rey from working together and Anne and my mother became best friends. From that point forward we were two deeply connected families.

My childhood is filled with memories of our two families doing things together. I remember playing softball, going to Comanche annual picnics, going to movies, having dinners or spending holidays together and spending time with each other just "hanging out".

I shared Rey´s love of horses. I am absolutely sure that Rey was instrumental in me getting my first horse. I loved going to see Rey, as he would get so excited to tell me about his newest horses. He would point to them from the balcony of his porch or take me into the horse pen and let me meet his new foals.

He and Anne were there for every important event that occurred in my life and the life of my own children, from graduations to birthday´s to even sharing the pain and loss of my parents.

Rey was truly a second father to me.
