Rhea A. Larimore, 85, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025. Growing up on the farm in Green County gave Rhea many skills from ironing crisp white shirts to cheering on the Dragons with his identical twin brother. After marrying Carolyn Smith in 1962, they took off to Reno for him to serve in the Air Force in helicopter operations. Upon their return to Louisville, he began his mechanical engineering career as a precision estimator working on projects at Ford Truck Plant, Rohm and Haas, Baptist East Hospital, and throughout Louisville.
He raced motor cross and enduro in KY and TN with family and friends, the Abels, Smiths, Elmers, and Greenroses. After dislocating his shoulder in a motor cross accident, he recovered and then took up tennis and golf. He loved a good chat, his family, and especially the childhood wonder of grandkids and great grandkids. We will miss his smile, humor, silliness and organizational prowess. Our family thanks the staff at Sycamore Heights and Hosparus of Louisville for their sincere love and care of Rhea. Rhea has been a member of Westport Road Baptist church for over 50 years. We are thankful he is whole once again and in the presence of his Savior. Good night Opa.
Rhea is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carolyn Smith Larimore; daughters, Michelle Honeycutt (Walter) and Renee Davie (Gerry); son, Michael Rhea Larimore; grandchildren, Hannah Mireles (Jorge), Gerry Davie, III (Isaac), Maddie Street (Matthew), Jackson Davie, Samuel Honeycutt (Kaylyn), Owen Honeycutt, Oliver Larimore, and Charles Larimore; great grandchildren, Elian, Elena, and Hudson; and brother, Russell Larimore.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Louisville, (235 Juneau Drive). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
