Rhetta Fabianne Perofsky was born in Macon, Georgia on July 8, 1951, and passed away in Atlanta, Georgia on March 3, 2026. Her parents were Shelby and Evelyn Etheredge. She was a dedicated registered nurse for more than 50 years, caring for the critically ill in intensive care units and emergency rooms in Macon, GA, Atlanta, GA, Rapid City, SD, Merced, CA, Phoenix, Az, Okinawa, Japan, Syracuse, NY, Boston, MA, and Cooperstown, NY. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida State University and her Master of Science in Nursing from Syracuse University.
She was a loving and devoted wife for forty-two years. She raised her two daughters with an abundance of love, dedication, and kindness. She was a friend to many, and her sudden loss is deeply felt by her family and friends. Her sense of humor was sharp, and she had an easy laugh. Generous to the end, she was an organ donor.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Howard, daughters Amanda (Rick) and Kate (Eric), grandchildren (Evie and Roy), her uncle Charles, her Aunt Betty, and several beloved cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Vineville United Methodist Church, with Reverend Teresa Edwards and Rabbi Aaron Rubinstein officiating. Mrs. Perofsky will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
Flowers are accepted and contributions can be made to Macon Volunteer Clinic at https://maconvolunteerclinic.org in honor of Mrs. Rhetta Fabianne Perofsky.
