Rhoda Lee Seccuro (ne Martin), age 84, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025, in Morgantown, West Virginia. Born on August 4, 1940, in
Fairmont, West Virginia, Rhoda lived a life marked by kindness, southern charm, and a spirit of adventure.
Rhoda attended East Fairmont High School and graduated from Smith-Hughes Evening High School in 1958. She built a remarkable career with Delta Airlines, working in their administrative offices in Atlanta, Georgia for 35 years before retiring in 1994.
An active member of Central United Methodist Church, Rhoda's faith was an important part of her life. She served in various capacities in her church over the years and lived her life with a quiet generosity that extended far beyond her faith community. Rhoda's love for her family was evident. She crocheted heirloom Afghans for each niece and continued the tradition for every baby born into the family. Her kitchen was always filled with delicious homemade treats, with her ever popular pizzelles, OHenry bars, and wickedly rich rum cake making frequent (if brief) appearances. She always had time to talk with her family members with care and interest, and to her great credit, she usually kept a straight face no matter how outlandish the conversation.
A woman of many talents and passions, Rhoda was an avid bowler who competed in the Womens International Bowling Congress (WIBC) Open Nationals for an impressive 26 years. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and usually had a puzzle in-progress on her worktable. She was an eclectic collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia, salt bowls and spoons, Willow Tree angels, and houseplants of every conceivable variety.
Rhoda loved to travel with friends and with family. Whether flying internationally to go shopping, soaking up the sun in Hawaii, zipping around the country in her friends puddle jumper, or hopping a chartered bus for a day excursion to a local casino, every trip was an adventure. Rhoda's zest for life included a mischievous streak and a quick sense of humor. She faced lifes challenges with courage and grace as a cancer survivor who inspired those around her with resilience and strength.
She is lovingly remembered as "the Cool Aunt" by her nieces Natalie Sal and husband Brian Hill; Melanie Sal and husband William Pastorius III; and Kimberly Martin and husband Gary Bruder. Her legacy continues through her great-nieces and great-nephews: Braedyn Hill, Rachael Hill, Rebecca Pastorius, William Pastorius IV, and Gloria Sirk.
Rhoda was predeceased by her parents William Russell Martin and Mary Lee (Carpenter) Martin; her siblings Raymond Martin, William Kenneth Martin, Kathleen (Martin) Daristotle, Janet (Martin) Sal; and her niece Roslyn Daristotle.
