EATON — Rhoda L. Shepherd, 90, of Eaton, passed away on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at Vancrest of Eaton Health Care Center.
She was born March 23, 1935, in Hamilton, to the late William and Sarah Martin. Rhoda dearly loved her dogs, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, her daily coffee; and most of all she dearly loved her family, always thinking of others first.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Shepherd; sister Annabelle Martin; twin sister Hilda Haught; half-brothers Bob Ridenour, Charles Ridenour, Harold Ridenour and Billy Ridenour; and half-sister Mary Lou King.
She is survived by her daughters Vicki (John) Parks of Eaton and Sheila (Aaron) Elstro of Independence, Kentucky; grandchildren Sarah Broome, Elizabeth Melton, Kyle Elstro, Taylor Elstro and Alyssa Elstro; great-grandchildren Alice and Wasquinae; brother-in-law Jim (Marilyn) Shepherd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to all of the staff at Vancrest Healthcare Center, along with Jean and all of The Hospice of Dayton staff that played a role in caring for Rhoda.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at the Gard Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 226 W. Main St, Eaton, with Pastor Gerald Sadai officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton.
