Rhonda Gaye McCrory entered into this life on February 16, 1961, in Morton, MS. She was born to the late Oscar and Johnnie Faye McCrory. She passed away on July 30, 2023, in Jackson, MS with her two daughters by her bedside. Rhonda had a personality that allowed her to never meet a stranger. She loved people and always had her home open to anyone in need. Rhonda loved to play her guitar and sing. She grew up in a family that has musical talent and it spilled over into her love while she played in church over her life. Amongst her love for music, she also loved to mud ride on four wheelers and have cookouts with family and friends. She loved her fur baby, Sheba very much.
Before becoming disabled, Rhonda was known for driving a school bus for Scott County Schools and was also a janitor at the Morton Middle School. She loved interacting with the kids and making their days as special and bright as they were.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Johnnie Faye McCrory. Brothers, Jerry Lavon McCrory and Larry Junior McCrory; one sister, Johnnie Sue Sessums and children’s father, James Smith.
She leaves behind 2 daughters, Samantha (Chuck)Brown of Sebastopol, MS, and Krista (Jason) Thompson of Forest, MS. 1 brother, Dwight (Pam) McCrory of Johns, MS. 4 grandchildren: Alex Thompson, Kelly Thompson, Hailey Roberts, and Alyssa Roberts. 7 great grandchildren: Landry Thompson, Kade Thompson, Lydia Thompson, Melina Morales, Adalynn Moore, Waylon Rogers, and Maeleigh Stagg. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews. Special friends, Mike Shows, Myrtle Hines, Ramona Cumberland, and Tami Danos; 2 God sons, Jaime Smith and David “Baby Boy” Miller.
Pallbearers were Michael McCrory, Alex Thompson, Nick McClendon, John Addy, Allen Smith, Kris Knight and Jamie Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Eric Shoemaker, Jason Thompson and Chuck Brown.
