Rhonda Rigsbee “Susie” Snipes, 70, of Durham passed away after losing a battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) Thursday August 22, 2024, and was surrounded by her loving family.
Susie was born in Durham on May 28, 1954, to the late Lonnie Rigsbee and Dorothy Matthews Rigsbee.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Dot, brother Ronnie Rigsbee, nephew Dr. Stephen “Trent” Rigsbee, sister-in-law Linda Stansbury and brother-in-law Tommy Snipes.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Victor Snipes; son, Victor Snipes, Jr. (Sarah); daughter, Michelle Ferrell (Greg) all from Durham; brothers Charlie Rigsbee (Kay), Mike Rigsbee (John West); grandchildren, Josie Ferrell, Noah Ferrell, Codey Snipes and Justin Snipes; great-grandchildren Izzie, Cash, Sophie and Grayson Lambert; sister-in-law, Phyllis Rigsbee. Susie also had many nieces, nephews and family members that she loved very much.
After much of her life working, Susie was blessed to stay at home and take care of her 4 grandkids which she loved tremendously. Susie loved attending all her children’s and grandchildren’s events, sport games and would never miss an event. If not at a ballgame, Susie loved listening to country music, going to concerts, avid at shopping, was the queen of coupons, enjoyed playing bingo and would always find the best deal possible. Most of all, she loved spending time with her loved ones and family who she adored.
Susie will be loved and missed by all, but we know she has now gone home to be with her eternal father. She is enjoying time reuniting with her Mama “Granny”, brother and others who have gone before her.
The family would like to especially thank the nurses and caretakers from Transitions LifeCare.
A visitation will be held on Sunday August 25, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home, Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday August 26, 2024, at Hudson Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Dylan Stone, a close family friend, will officiate the service.
Burial will be at the Thompson-Snipes Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Noah Ferrell, Codey Snipes, Justin Snipes, Charles Rigsbee Jr., Ray Downey and Larry Mangum.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bethesda Ruritan Club.
Flowers are acceptable or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
