Ricardo "Chepin" Pena, 79 entered his heavenly home on Wednesday June 11, 2025 at home surrounded by family. Obeying his wishes of cremation, a prayer service is planned for Saturday June 21, 2025 beginning at 6pm at Templo Nazaret United Methodist Church; officiated by Pastor Tim. Dinner to follow prayer service.
Ricardo was born on January 20, 1946 in Taft, Texas to Pedro and Concepcíon Pena. Ricardo lost his mother at an early age and was raised by his brother and sister in law, Encarnasio and Carmen Pena. He worked for Robert Heath for many years and was a mechanic for many people throughout the years. He was a hard worker his whole life and enjoyed staying busy, whether it was working on cars, working in the yard, or you could find him in the place he loved the most, his garage with his tools. He enjoyed watching football, especially when his Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders played or his Texas Longhorns. Most importantly he absolutely loved spending time with his family. His grandkids and great grandkids were his everything.
He is survived by two sons, Ricardo "Ricky" Pena Jr (Misty Pena) and Rudy Pena, both of Lubbock; one sister, Patsy (Petra) Soliz of Littlefield; 11 grandchildren and was also blessed with 7 bonus grandsons; 17 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the mother of his sons, Guadalupe Pena and his love Dominga Sanchez.
Preceded in death by his son Ruben "Joker" Pena (2016); grandson, Ruben Angel Pena Jr (1995); great grandson, Murdoc Pena Jenkins (2015); brothers, Pete Deleon, Dorotello Pena, Encarnasio Pena, Theodore Pena, Julian Pena; sisters, Santos Morales, Lucia Luna, Juana Cavazos
A special thank you to his daughter in law Misty for caring for him in his ending days at home, the Hospice of Lubbock Team, and especially his nephrologist Dr. Joel Starnes & his office for the great care throughout the years. We appreciate you all.
Cremation services are under the direction of House of Angels Funeral Home.
