Maxie worked in retail, then pursued a career in banking, working as an Assistant Manager at Mechanics Savings Bank, and American Eagle Financial Credit Union where he worked for 15 years, retiring as Operations Manager in 2015.
Maxie was a music lover and enjoyed songs from the 50's and 60's, especially Doo Wop. He was the drummer for a local band in Manila called the Spinners. Maxie was a skilled marksman who had a life-long passion for firearms, which he shared with his sons and nephews. He enjoyed watching western and war movies.
Maxie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maria A. Maxie leaves behind many nieces and nephews, who all knew him as "Tito Maxie". He was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Antonio Evangelista Punzalan and Pacita Fajardo Punzalan; and his brother-in-law, Ernesto Lucido.
Maxie's family was the cornerstone of his life. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and his unwavering commitment to his family and friends defined the essence of his character. His laughter, wisdom, and warmth will be missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
Those who knew Maxie will remember him as a loving husband, a selfless father and friend, with faith that guided him through every challenge. To his two sons, he was their PAPA.
In keeping with his love for life and family, Maxie's final days were spent surrounded by his loved ones, sharing stories, laughter, and the unwavering love that he so freely gave. His legacy is not only in the lives he touched but also in the example he set on how to live a life of purpose and joy. Maxie's story does not end here, for he lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
