Richard Allan Mordock was born March 27, 1963, in Concord, CA to Harold "Bill" Mordock and Carol Ann (Poppeck) Mordock. Rich grew up in northern California and later moved to Oregon with his family. He graduated from Illinois Valley High School in Cave Junction, OR in 1981. He continued his education at Arizona Automotive Institute in Glendale, AZ. graduating in 1982. He returned to Oregon and began working as a mechanic.
On July 19, 1985, Rich was united in marriage to Rebecca Waddle in Grants Pass, OR. They settled in Salem where he worked as a mechanic. From this union he was blessed with four children, Ricky, Jessica, Jennifer and Johnny. Rich and his family moved to the Des Moines area where he continued to work as a mechanic. They later divorced.
In 1999, Rich and his 3 kids moved to Creston, and he began working for Hi-Crest Auto as a mechanic where he became close friends with the Stuart Family. Rich met Stacy Miller in 2003. She and Marissa joined the family right away. Richard and Stacy raised their 4 kids together.
Rich met Tim and Shane Hunter and they became close, bonding over their mutual love for dirt track racing. Rich later went to work for them at T & S Industries in Afton as a mechanic, among other duties.
Most recently he had been working for Ripperger Auto Repair as a Mechanic in Afton. He fell right into place and became buddies with Jeff and Eric.
He slowed down a bit with his new job, allowing him and Stacy to adopt and spend time with their 2 grandchildren, Vivian and Ricky.
During the racing season you could catch Rich in the pits. Helping Stuart family with Stoney's karts and racecars. He was happiest when helping his son Johnny race. From a young age in go-karts and up to midgets and B-mods as he got older. It was especially fun when they won but he was happy win or lose. When Johnny moved away to start his career, Rich enjoyed helping work on Skylar Hunter's car. He could also be found helping those he knew with their cars, or random people who looked like they needed a hand. Boone, Marshalltown, Stuart, were a few local tracks they frequented. But they loved to travel for races too! Oklahoma, Nebraska, Florida, and Missouri to name a few! If he was not working on a race car or watching a race in person, you would find him in his recliner watching a race on the TV.
Rich is survived by his wife Stacy Miller of Creston; Mother, Carol (Jim) Price of Cave Junction, OR.; six children, Jessica (Brian) Cozad of Corning, IA, Jennifer (Jason) Mordock of Creston, Johnny (Caitlin) Mordock of Yadkinville, NC, Marissa (Vince) Cox of Creston and Vivian and Ricky Mordock both of Creston; eight grandchildren, Hope Weber, Ethan Branan, Tyler Werner, Lucas Branan, Hannah Branan, Addy Cox, Britney Cozad and Finley Mordock; one great-grandchild Cody Weber; and two brothers, Michael Mordock of Cave Junction, OR and Loren (Marshilla) Mordock of Jacksonville, NC, his father-in-law Lonnie Wright of Mount Moriah, MO, brothers-in-law David Warren of Creston, Ryan (Beth) O'Dell of Osceola, IA, Ed (Kim) Hickman of Leon Kansas and Sister-in-law Chris Six of Elgin OK
