Richard Anderson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Bloomington on Dec. 23, 2025.
Richard (Dick) Anderson died December 11, 2025, at Episcopal Homes in St. Paul.

Dick was born on July 21, 1926, in Grand Rapids to Hilmer and Sebella Anderson and he died of the combination of a fall in his apartment and the failing of old age. Everything was done for him to recover but it wasn't to be. He was 99 years old.

He married Jean (Anderson) on Dec. 28, 1948, and they were married for 68 wonderful years.

One of Dick's favorite memories was of Jean appearing at the University of Minnesota Experiment Station field days at Grand Rapids and Waseca and joining farmers for tours of the research plots.

He loved the outdoors, which extended to hunting and fishing, not to mention many pontoon rides with friends and family!

He and Jean together enjoyed cross-country skiing, theater, living on Turtle Lake in retirement, numerous Maui trips and politics.

Jean was Sen. Dave Durenberger's Waseca County campaign chair and headed campaigns for Speaker of the House Rod Searle and husband Dick's successful run for the Minnesota House of Representatives.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents Hilmer and Sebella, his wife Jean Anderson, his brother Raymond Anderson, sister Carole Panning and sister Marian O'Brien.

He is survived by sons Stephen, Mark (Diane Wilson) and Paul, Grandchildren Jillian White(Abraham), Jason Anderson(Lisbeth) and Kelly Anderson.

He is also survived by eight great grandchildren! Three of them live in Sun Prairie, WI, three of them live in Madison, WI and two of them live in Cedar Rapids, IA. They range in age from months to thirteen years.

Memorial services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday January 19 with visitation at 10 A.M. at Washburn-McReavy Werness Brothers Bloomington Chapel at 2300 W. Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington, MN 55431. Phone is 952-884-8145
