Richard “Dick” Andrews of Plainwell went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 3, 2025. Dick was born on February 15, 1947, in Plainwell. He was the son of the late Carlton and Fannie (Brown) Andrews. He grew up in Plainwell and graduated from Plainwell High School in 1965.
Dick leaves behind a legacy marked by love, service, and good humor. He serviced his country proudly in the United States Navy.
Dick enjoyed camping, boating of all kinds but the ‘purple people eater’ speedboat was his favorite. He also loved riding his Goldwing.
When Dick was in high school, he met Dianne Wycoff who was a year under him. While at a party with a date, he saw his best friends date, Dianne, and with one look, Dick knew that she was his soulmate. His friend must have known it too because his friend never called her again so Dick could. They were married in 1967 at a church in Plainwell.
After high school, Dick joined the Navy. When he returned home, they settled in Plainwell and he was a turbine operator for the papermill for many years.
Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dianne; his son Richard Andrews II and his daughter Doris (Paul) Swiontek. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Andy Andrews III, Cali (Tylor), Bailey, Kaylee Andrews, Jazmaine Andrews; 3 great grandchildren: Emma, Chloe and Joshua; his sister Linda Harold.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 10 at 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2:00, both will be held at the funeral home. Military honors will follow at 3:00 at South Martin Cemetery.
While at www.amsfuneralhomes.com please take time to sign Dick’s guestbook and/or share your favorite memory with his family.
