Richard Gregg Ausbrook died at his home in Mountain Home, Texas on July 11, 2024.
Gregg was born on August 8, 1948, in Great Bend, Kansas to Richard V. Ausbrook and Coetta Ausbrook (Whitehead), before moving to Oilton, Oklahoma.
Gregg graduated from Oilton High School in 1966 and married Delores Carroll in 1968. He worked as a welder for National Tank, and then as a plant operator for ARCO Oil & Gas.
Gregg loved riding motorcycles, running, shooting in archery tournaments, hunting, and camping with his friends. He was devoted to his parents and siblings and did an outstanding job of raising two daughters. He worked hard to provide a home for his wife and daughters in Oilton for over 20 years, before moving to Texas in 1989 where he worked as an LVN at Kerrville State Hospital and established many friendships.
Gregg was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Maxine Ausbrook and Coetta and Elton Todd. He is survived by his daughters Melanie Ausbrook and Maggie Clifford (David), his wife Julie, grandchildren Storm Fox, Zoe Flores, and Lily Flores, his siblings Jerry Ausbrook and Jeannie Campbell, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was a devoted and loyal friend to many Oklahoma and Texas outdoorsmen, including Willard Walbridge, Bud Knox, Rick McDaniels, and Preston Lay.
A celebration of Gregg's life will be held on Saturday, October 12th at the Oilton First Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Feel free to wear your favorite camo or whatever you choose. His ashes will be scattered in a private ceremony following the service.
