Richard "Dick" Austin 81 of Norridgewock Maine passed away peacefully while sleeping at the Redington-Fairfield General Hospital in Skowhegan Maine on September 8, 2023.
Dick was born on August 25, 1942 in Sunapee New Hampshire to the late Maurice Austin Sr. & Mabel (Dodge) Austin.
Dick graduated from Sunapee High School and joined the Army where he served in Korea.
After coming back to New Hampshire Dick drove a truck for the Mayflower moving company where he traveled all over. He also drove truck for Tire Warehouse in West Swanzey, New Hampshire where he did the night route and often talked about that being an adventure.
At one point in the late 80's or early 90's Dick raced a mini stock at Monadnock speedway in Winchester, New Hampshire. He had a lot of fun doing that.
Dick and his late wife Eunice decided to move to Norridgewock, Maine where they made their home out in the country.
Dick loved cats giving any that came to his door a home.
Dick is predeceased by his wife Eunice. His parents, his brother Maurice "Tink" Austin Jr. & sister-in-law Beverly of Sunapee, NH. His sisters Beverly Merry of Norridgewock, Iva Newell & brother-in-law Kenny of Norridgewock, 2 nephews, Christopher Merry of Norridgewock & Allen Austin of Sunapee, New Hampshire and
Annie Bundy & brother-in-law Edward of Keene, NH.
He is also survived by nieces Flo Austin of Norridgewock, Cheryl Merry of Norridgewock, Joel (Donna) Merry of West Bath, Maine, Carrie (Dave) Miller of Keene, NH. Becky Eaton of Florida and Sue Bundy of Swanzey NH.
along with nephews Shawn (Vicki) Austin of Sunapee & Roy (Brenda) Bundy of Acworth, NH.
Dick also leaves behind his good friend Scott of Norridgewock along with extended family and friends.
In keeping with Dicks wishes there will be no services.
