Richard Raymond Bartel

Richard Raymond Bartel passed away on August 3, 2025 at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Janet (nee Bernacki), and is survived by his children, Gwenn (husband William Seaman, daughter Margaret), Richard (wife Molly Blumhoefer, daughter Prytania), and Amanda (husband Greg Papp, son Jacob), and partner Joanne Damian.
Richard was born June 24, 1947 in Cleveland to Raymond and Margaret (nee Edlisky); one of six siblings (Willard, Daniel, James, Raymond, Katherine). He graduated from John Marshall High School and Cleveland State University before a career as an elementary school teacher in Cleveland. For hobbies, Richard enjoyed hanging out with family, golfing with his buddies, and traveling by cruise ship. He was very proud of his family and maintained many life-long friendships; he was much-loved and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, Richard's family asks that donations be given to the ALS Association of Ohio.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 17 from 3 pm to 5 pm and will conclude with a service at 5pm at Busch Funeral Home, 7501 Ridge Road, Parma 44129. Burial will take place on Monday August 18 at 10 am at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14609 Brookpark Road, Brook Park (Please meet inside the cemetery gates).
