Richard Daniel Basilius

Basilius, Richard Daniel - age 90 of Swartz Creek, died September 14, 2023. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, September 18, 2023, at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek with Rev. Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Visitation will be held 4-7 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473 where a rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Sunday evening. Visitation will also be held from 10 AM - 11 AM Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesee County Humane Society. Richard was born September 24, 1932, in Mishawaka, IN, the son of Ralph Long and Gabriella D'Herckens. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. Richard married Marian L. Warren on August 16, 1952, and she preceded him in death on March 8, 2013. He retired from Michigan Bell (now AT&T) as a Security Supervisor. He and his wife Marian enjoyed collecting antiques and frequenting estate sales and auctions. Surviving are: three sons, Daniel (Deborah) Basilius of Caledonia, MI, David (Shelia) Basilius of Clio, MI and Doug Basilius of Thompson Station, TN; grandchildren, Dana (Austin) Smith, Diane (Jeremy) Barber, Derek (Lindsey) Basilius, Brandon Look, Brad Basilius, Camden Basilius, and Collin, Basilius; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Carter, and Isla Smith, Leo, Marian and Roslynn Barber and Jacelyn Basilius; brother, Willis "Bill" H.
