Stephen “Steve” Dawe, 74, of Flushing, Michigan passed away on November 18, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 PM Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Sharp Funeral Homes, 8138 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek.
To honor Steve’s love for the Michigan Wolverines, the family is requesting you come to the visitation dressed in Maize and Blue. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the charity of your choice in Steve's memory.
Steve was born on May 8, 1951, to Alfred and Betty Dawe in London, Ontario. He moved to the United States in his teens, graduated from Marine City High School, and became a naturalized citizen. Two years after graduation, he married his wife, Bonnie.
Steve began working at General Motors on the assembly line as an hourly worker. After a lot of hard work and dedication, he worked his way up to a salaried position and obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan - Flint. He continued with his education and earned a master’s degree from Central Michigan. After 42 years between General Motors, Delphi, and Nexteer, Steve obtained a new position in retirement.
Steve always had a soft spot for his family. He enjoyed cooking a delicious meal for the holidays and having the entire family over. Birthdays weren’t complete without a cake made with his homemade frosting. The grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and fur-babies all loved their “Papa”. He took such great care of them.
In his spare time, you would find Steve golfing, watching Detroit sports, or watching his beloved Michigan Wolverines. He was a football season ticket holder for 40 years.
Steve is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie; his children Blake (Jennifer) Dawe, Heidi Dawe, and Kristen (Bob) Mundt; his grandchildren Andrea, Liz, Nathan, Madison, Naomi, Charles, Nolan, Morgan, and Landen; his great-grandchildren Pierce, Carlos, Ava, Mya, and Na’Leeyah; his sister Cynthia; several nieces and nephews; along with several extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Preceded in death by his father Alfred, mother Betty, brother Terry, and nephew Tyler.
Steve was truly one of a kind, a rare, and cherished gift. He had a smile that lit up a room. His strength, patience, wisdom, and love will remain with his family always.
