Ronald Lee Liming, Sr, age 80 of Lapeer, MI, died at his home on February 15, 2026.

Ron was born in Pontiac, MI on January 5, 1946, to Fred Liming and Phyllis (Benn) Liming. He attended Central Michigan University, where he received his BS in Education in 1970, Masters degree in 1971, and Education Specialist degree in 1972. In 1976 he completed his PhD in law-related Education from the University of Michigan. He became a lifetime member of Phi Delta Kappa (professional association for educators) in 1975.

In 1967 Ron married Jean Ellen Priestley of Waterford, MI. Their son Lee was born in 1968, and daughter Katie was born in 1976. The family lived in Lapeer, MI from 1973, where Ron taught social studies in Lapeer Community Schools. His considerate treatment of students with learning difficulties earned him a reputation for being friendly and fair. He was available to give students extra assistance as needed to assure each student's opportunity for success in his classes.

Ron also served in the Lapeer Education Association, including serving as its Vice-President from 1979-1983 and President from 1983 – 1993. He spent long hours working on behalf of his fellow educators. He served on the board of the Lapeer County School Employee's Credit Union.

Ron enjoyed season tickets to Michigan football games with his family for over 20 years. He was a technology enthusiast and donated hours of computer support time (and computer parts and systems) to members of the community. Ron retired in 2000 and enjoyed travel and cruises around the world. He continued to live in his home in Lapeer until his death.

Ron is survived by his mother, Phyllis Liming; his son Ronald Lee Liming, Jr (Kristin Schultz) and daughter Catherine Elisabeth Miller (Skyler); his grandsons Evan, Noah and Micah Liming; his brothers Morris Liming (Connie), David Liming (Jeannie), and sister Donna Liming. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Liming.
