Larry D. Grant

Larry D. Grant, age 63, of Columbiaville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, with his beloved wife by his side.

Larry was born on April 10, 1962, in Oakland County, Michigan. He carried a lifelong passion for classic old muscle cars, with the Pontiac Grand Prix holding a special place in his heart. He thrived on the excitement of demolition derbies and had a well-known love for driving fast. A remarkably skilled mechanic, Larry could rebuild engines from the ground up and took great pride in his hands-on abilities.

He worked for three years at Sea Ray building boats and spent many dedicated years at Automated Machine Company. Above all, Larry was a devoted husband, a proud father and a doting grandfather who cherished his grandchildren, Aubrey (Sweet Pea) and Ellie (Booboo).

Larry found peace sitting on the deck, quietly watching nature unfold. He loved his family without limits and was known for being quiet, fiercely loyal and deeply caring. He was also a great negotiator, especially when it came to buying cars or finding the best deals at garage sales.

He will be remembered for his big heart, steady presence, and the boundless love he gave so freely to those around him.

Larry is survived by his wife of 40 years, Renee Grant; two children Alicia Kelley and Christopher Grant; his granddaughters Aubrey Kelley and Ellie Reyes; brothers Ernest (Jan) Grant, James (Bonnie) Grant, Ralph (Amy) Grant; nephews Michael (Terry) Grant and Ricky Grant; niece Melissa (Chuck) Lanier; beloved pets Jasper and Stuart; along with many other nieces, nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Ruby Grant; son-in-law Matthew Kelley; Nephew Joshua LaFond; and Lilly the cat.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 16, at 3:00 p.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
